Dr. Cleon A. Tollefsrud of Mankato died on Tuesday, February 7, 12.

Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Lutheran with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 between 5:00 " 7:00 p.m. at NORTHVIEW - North Mankato Mortuary, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Lunch will be served following the burial.

Memorials may be directed to Christ the King Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.

Dr. Tollefsrud was born April 21, 1918 to Clarence and Amanda (Bersie) Tollefsrud In Mabel, MN (Houston County). He attended a one-room country school in New House, MN, and then went to High School in Mabel, MN. He attended the University of MN for seven years, obtaining a degree in Dentistry. He graduated on December 15, 1943. He entered the military in July 1942 serving in an army "mobile medical section" on the island of Saipan in the Pacific. He was discharged in October 1946. He came to Mankato to set up a dental practice. He thoroughly loved his work and reluctantly retired in July 1987.

He married Merelyn Avis Hanson on June 17, 1947 in Virginia, MN. They made their home in Mankato and raised two sons, John and Richard.

Dr. Tollefsrud was very active in Dental district and state politics and was a member of the "International College of Dentistry". He enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, golf, and reading. He was a Shriner, Scottish Rite Member, and Mason.

Dr. Tollefsrud is survived by his two sons: John (DeDe) of Bloomington, and Richard (Linda) of Columbia Heights; one brother: Ronald (Lois) of Minneapolis; one brother-in-law: Roger (Millicent) of Winnebago; three grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, his wife Merelyn and grandson, Neal.
