Joan Isabel Peterson, 70, of Mankato, died Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Oaklawn Health Care Center. Joan will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements were handled by Mankato Mortuary.

Joan was born October 11, 1941, to Russell and Genevieve (Reisgard) Gillie in Hallock, MN. She attended school in Hallock. Joan married Pete Puskedra in 1959 in Hallock. In 1972, Joan married Gene Frassel in Iowa. She married Larry Peterson in 1984 in Mankato. Joan worked as a bartender and was also employed at the Redwood Motel in Mankato. She served as President of the Women's Auxiliary at the Eagle's Club. Joan enjoyed a life of pets, especially dogs, and also reading, bingo, and puzzles.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Tim) Gens of Mankato, Deb (John) Engels of Rhode Island, and Carole Puskedra & special friend, Tina of Pasadena, CA. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Amie, Nathan, Michael, Joshua, and Kaitlin; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ethan, Owen, and Wyatt; and sister, Kathy Cannon of Texas.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, two husbands and grandson, Christopher.

Joan's family wants to express many thanks to Oaklawn nurses, aides, Hospice, and volunteers.
