John "Jack" Truwe, age 71 of Mankato, died in comfort and serenity surrounded by family at his home on May 20, 2008. He succumbed to a long battle with multiple myeloma.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2008 at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice program, VINE, or to an organization of the donor's choice.
John was born on December 24, 1936 to Milton and Dorothy (Stiles) Truwe. He was a 1954 graduate of Amboy High School and went on to attend the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1960. He was united in marriage to Ginny Johnson on May 11, 1957 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. John was the President and CEO of Federal Land Bank and Farm Credit Services in Mankato, and also served at offices in Forest Lake, Fairmont, Lanesboro and Rochester. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, and the Farm House Fraternity. He has also volunteered with many other organizations, including VINE. He enjoyed family activities, following Minnesota sports teams, traveling, politics, fishing and gardening.
John is survived by his wife, Ginny Truwe of Mankato; son, Tim Truwe of North Mankato; daughter, Teri (Brian) Holst of Mound; six grandchildren, Mychal, Carly, Lisa, Cody, Travis, and Kali; two sisters, Joan (Don) Starkweather of Northfield, and Judy Johnson of Walker; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and faithful companion, Reggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice; brother, Jerry; and six nephews.
