James Curtis Whiteoak, age 69, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his residence.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Mankato Mortuary, with Chaplain Jacek Soroka officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice.
James was born June 13, 1938 in Robbinsdale. He was the son of Earl and Ann (Hayek) Whiteoak. James was a graduate of Robbinsdale High School and attended Rasmussen College in St. Paul. He served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force. James was united in marriage to Betty Hassebrock on October 1, 1966 in Brewster. He was employed as an accountant at Mankato State University for over thirty years. James was a member of the North Mankato American Legion Post 518. He enjoyed sports, fishing, playing keno, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren.
James is survived by his wife, Betty of North Mankato; two sons, Douglas and Dennis Whiteoak of North Mankato; one daughter, Fayeann (Jerry) Kerber of St. Anthony Village; three grandchildren, James, Kaylene, and Danae Kerber; one brother, Ed Whiteoak of Buffalo; one sister, Lila Nelson of Bloomington; one brother-in-law, James (Kathy) Hassebrock of Brewster; one sister-in-law, Phyllis (Erv) Freemire of Heron Lake; also nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
