Dorothy M. "Dotty" Hilger, age 85, of Plymouth and formerly of Mankato, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Summerwood of Plymouth Assisted Living.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held at the church from 12 noon until the time of the service on Monday.

Dotty was born July 16, 1922 to Joseph W. and Dagna R. (Berg) McCormick in Iona, MN. She graduated from Slayton High School in 1940, and attended Worthington Junior College. She was united in marriage to Laurie J. Hilger on July 13, 1944 in Greenville, South Carolina. They returned post World War II to Iona in 1945, and moved to Mankato in 1950. Laurie died in 1976 and Dotty moved to Plymouth in 2003 where she resided until her death. Her accomplishments in life were many, but her greatest pleasure was her family and especially her grandchildren.

Dotty was employed for 12 years at Immanuel " St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato before retiring at the age of 65. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato.

Dotty is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Jon) Jelinek of Plymouth, MN; son, Joseph (Susan) Hilger of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Thomas Jelinek, Mark Jelinek, and Melissa (Tramayne) Mills, Michael Hilger, Matthew Hilger, and Nicole Hilger; two great-grandchildren, Alex Braulick and Carter Mills; two sisters, Eunice (Jack) Meaden; Shirley (Jim) Lowe; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Maher and Joan McCormick; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, seven brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law and two nephews.
