Hertha Marie Dauer, age 95 of Mankato, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Wayne Eichstadt officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nicollet. Visitation will be held from 11:30 until the time of the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to an organization of the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Hertha was born on November 12, 1912 in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County to Otto and Matilda (Netzke) Mieske. She attended the Lutheran Country School south of Nicollet. Hertha was united in marriage to Walter Dauer in November 1931 and they were later divorced. She worked at Daniel Buck Hall at Mankato Normal School as a teenager in housekeeping and food service and later on she was a homemaker for her family. In her later years she worked at Johnson Uniform in St. Peter, retiring in the early 1970's. Hertha was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Nicollet and was currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a former member of the Nicollet Senior Citizens Group. Hertha loved flowers, gardening, and raising vegetables.
Hertha is survived by her son, Frederick (Pal) Dauer of New Hope and their children: Scott Dauer of Plymouth, Douglas (Laura) Dauer of Maple Grove and their daughter Emma, Mahna (Leon) Surrell of Oak Grove and their sons Devan and Dylan; daughter-in-law, Maxine Dauer of Nicollet and her children: Jeffrey (Skye) Dauer of Eagle Lake and their children, Greer Dauer and Azzizeh and Joe Haddad, Perry (Bethany) Dauer of rural Mankato and their children, Quinn (Samantha) Dauer of Miami, FL, Nikki (David) Sparley of Portland, OR, Kimberley and fianc" Paul Mehltretter of Mankato, and Tysen of Mankato; niece, Virginia Shellum of Nicollet; and nephew, Glenn (Beverly) Hasse of Eau Claire, WI; and other relatives including Ardella Maas of Nicollet.
She was preceded in death by her son Dwayne Dauer in 1994, parents, one brother, and six sisters.
