David Lee Butler, age 57, of Mankato, died Monday, May 12, 2008 peacefully at his home.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday May 16, 2008 at Belgrade Ave. United Methodist Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
David was born October 15, 1950 in Chester, IL. He was the son of Harold and Rena (Vallroy) Butler. He was a graduate of St. Cloud High School and South Central Technical College in Mankato. David was united in marriage to Amelie Olson in August 25, 1973 in Brooklyn Park, MN. He was employed by A.H. Hermel Company in Mankato and was a member of Belgrade Ave. United Methodist Church. He enjoyed participating in local dart leagues, cooking, catering weddings, golfing and bowling.
David is survived by his wife, Amelie Butler of Mankato; daughter, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Gilbertson of Mankato; four grandchildren, Sebastian, Payton, Adler, and Skyler Gilbertson; father, Harold Butler of Chester, IL; mother, Rena Johnson of Manitowoc, WI; sister, Sherry (Jerry) Lemberger of Manitowoc, WI; two brothers, Mike (Terrie) Butler of CA and Terry (Inga) Butler of Seymor, WI; step-sisters, Barb Johnson of Maple Grove, and Linda Mason of Escanaba, MI; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by step-father, Herb Johnson and step-mother, Elvira Butler.
