Debra Kay Freking, age 50, of North Mankato, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at her home following a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Petersen officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Debra was born on July 21, 1957 in Worthington. She was the daughter of Ervin and Delia (Gerdes) Oberloh. Debra was a 1975 graduate of Worthington High School and attended one year of business school. She had been employed with Valley News in Mankato for over thirty years. Debra was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She enjoyed walking, jogging with the "Running Girls," playing softball, and was an avid reader.
Debra is survived by her three children, Ryan (Brandy) Ponto of Colorado Springs, CO, Lael Freking of North Mankato, and Kyla Freking of North Mankato; one granddaughter, Sophie Ponto of Colorado Springs, CO; mother, Delia Oberloh of Worthington; one sister, Sherri (Merlin) Goebel of Hartford, SD; five brothers, Walter (In) Oberloh of Florissant, MO, Alan (Janice) Oberloh of Worthington, Dennis (Theresa) Oberloh of Redwood Falls, Keith (Brenda Hardel) Oberloh of Truman, and Lyle Oberloh of Brewster; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Bruce Baumshen of Mankato.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Oberloh.
