Marlene (Brossard) Oachs Southworth, age 71, of Mankato, died after ten years with Alzheimers on May 3, 2008 at Oaklawn Care Center.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Keith Siverly officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be given for Alzheimers research or to the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Marlene Belle Brossard was born May 27, 1936 to Art and Daisy Brossard. She grew up in Mankato and spent her childhood caring for her Mother and assisting her Father in the bait business. On September 2, 1954 Marlene married a young auto mechanic, Dennis A. Oachs. They had four sons. Marlene was a homemaker until Denny died in a car accident in 1970. In 1975 she married Dick Southworth; they later divorced. Marlene worked at Sheri Candies, Atwood Land Co., Holiday Inn in St. Cloud, and at The Realife Apt. in St. Peter. She enjoyed gardening, housekeeping, fishing, playing accordion, and traveling. Marlene returned to Mankato in 1998.
Marlene is survived by her sons, Alan (Rosy) Oachs of Mankato, Scott Oachs and fianc" Tammy Ceminsky of Makato; one daughter-in-law, Sherri Oachs of Eagle Lake; 7 grandchildren: Dan (Lori) Oachs (son Isaac) of St. Peter, David (Julie) Oachs (sonRylan) of Woodbury, Amy (Mark) Kriesch of Minnetonka, Chad (Teresa) Oachs (son Corban) of Mankato, Angela Oachs of Eagle Lake; one sister Mary Decker of Casper, WY; 5 step-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Gloria Oachs, Marcella Oachs, Marlene Oachs, Whilma Smith, Beulah McComb, Florence Standfast, Barbera Oachs, and Helen Oachs, and many nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denny; two sons, Todd and Tim; brothers, Wayne and Buster Brossard; sisters Lillian Mason and LaVonne Abits.
