Clifton "Clif" Fossen, age 81, of Mankato died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. Ted Hottinger, S.J. officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary with a 6 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Clif was born December 20, 1926 to Harry and Mary (Stofferahn) Fossen in Aitkin, MN. He entered the U.S. Navy in January of 1944, served during World War II in the South Pacific area, and was honorably discharged on May 1, 1946. Clif was united in marriage to Mildred "Millie" Hodapp on September 25, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, where he continued to be a member. They had two children, Arnold and Bonita.
Survivors include his loving wife, Millie Fossen of Mankato; two children, Arnold Fossen of Minneapolis and Bonita (Michael) Ashmore of Maple Grove; two grandchildren, Adam and Allison Ashmore; five siblings, Gordon (Ruth) Fossen of Waterford, WI, Kenneth (Rose) Fossen of Hastings, Laura (Jim) McCormick of Vadnais Heights, Russell (Elaine) Fossen of Mankato, Betty (Richard) Johnson of Fridley; sister-in-law, Orloene Thom of North Mankato; many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Clif was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Clif's identical twin brother, Clinton.
