Wilmay Maidie Hjerpe, age 82, of Mankato died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair with Rev. Daniel Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Wilmay was born February 21, 1926 in Huron, SD to Arthur and Pauline (Schlueter) Andresen. She was a Mankato High School graduate. On December 31, 1941, she was married to Roy O. Hjerpe. She held various part-time jobs and was a homemaker for her family. Wilmay was most notably remembered as the "Sample Lady" at Randall's Food Store in Mankato. Wilmay enjoyed clipping coupons and rebating, crocheting and was an excellent cook.
Wilmay is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Bonita) Hjerpe of Bloomington, Steven (Jacqueline) Hjerpe of New Brighton; two daughters, Janice (James) Clobes of Las Vegas, NV, Jeanette (Kevin) Phillips of Mankato; eight grandchildren, Michael Hjerpe of Brooklyn Park, Rachel Hjerpe (fianc", Mike Bourgeois) of Little Canada, Nicole (Darrin) Hoechst of Mankato, Sarah (T.J.) Barnes of St. Paul, Craig Groebner of Madison Lake, Jordan Phillips of Mankato, and Brady Phillips of Mankato; two great-grandchildren, Emma Hjerpe and Gabriella Mattson; sister, Arlean (William) Exner of North Mankato.
Wilmay was preceded in death by her husband, Roy O. in 2002; two granddaughters, Michelle Mattson and Jessica Hjerpe; and her parents.
