Gertrude E Roberts

Gertrude E. Roberts, age 90, of Lake Crystal, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Madelia Community Hospital.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary. There will also be a time to visit with the family following the service at the church on Thursday. Private family burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery.

Gertrude Elizabeth Roberts was born November 12, 1917 in Madelia. She was the daughter of Thomas and Petra (Petersen) Johnson. Gertrude was a 1935 graduate of Madelia High School. She was united in marriage to Alvin Roberts on April 4, 1937. Gertrude later married Howard Roberts on December 28, 1979. She was a homemaker for her family and was also employed with Red Owl in Lake Crystal. Gertrude was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Donna (Michael) Winship of Eden Prairie; son, James (Joyce) Roberts of Lake Crystal; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Judy) Winship of Victoria, Cindy (Shaun) Nelson of Rosemount, and Steve Winship of Minnetonka; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Johnson and special friend, Ethel Petersen of Madelia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Alvin and second husband, Howard.
