David R Burt

David Burt age 68 of Mankato, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with Cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday March 19, 2008 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Donald Rauscher officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery's rosary garden. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m., prayer service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will also be held one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
David was born December 18, 1939 in Mankato to Gilbert "Gib" and Margaret (Krummel) Burt. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1957. On April 23, 1960 he was united in marriage to Mary Lee Melchior at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. David retired from Continental Can Company (Crown Cork and Seal) in 2002 after 43 + years. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting with his son and grandson, playing cards with his family and playing Keno.
David is survived by his wife, Mary of Mankato; children, Melody "Mel" Burt of Mankato; Mike (Kari) Burt of Mankato; grandchildren, Amber, Alexandra, and Adam Burt all of Mankato; great granddaughter, Aubrey; his mother, Margaret Burt of Mankato; sister, Gloria "Tootie" Blakesley of LaCross, WI; many brother and sisters-in-laws and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert on October 21, 1971.
