Theodore R. "Ted" Potter, age 95, of North Mankato, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2008 in the Community Room of Oak Terrace Assisted Living. Spring burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Mankato Mortuary handled arrangements.
Theodore Roosevelt Potter was born October 3, 1912 to Lola Mae and George W. Potter in Windom. As a family, they farmed in the Jeffers area, returned to Windom in 1918, and moved to Mankato in 1920. Ted's mother, Lola, died in 1929. Ted attended elementary school in North Mankato and high school in Mankato. Ted was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Ulrich on January 8, 1934. Ted worked with his father, George, in the coal business until January 1942. Ted and Dorothy moved to San Francisco, CA to help in war work and returned to Mankato in the fall of 1944. In 1951, they moved to Galesburg, IL and had worked in cemetery sales for two years. They were transferred to Des Moines, IA and continued in the cemetery business for a year. They then moved to Kansas City, MO for two years. During the fall of 1957, they returned to Mankato and went into the hardware business. Ted's father, George, died in 1963. In December of 1967, Ted and Dorothy moved to Phoenix, AZ, due to Dorothy's health. After Dorothy's death in 1998, Ted returned to Mankato.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Ted was preceded in death by his two brothers, Leslie and Lloyd and his sister, Clarabelle.
There will be a time of remembrance held at Oak Terrace Assisted Living for his friends. Ted was greatly loved and will be missed by his family at Oak Terrace and his friends at Elder Care Services. He will be interred next to his wife, Dorothy, at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
