Dennis E. Kaul, age 75, of Mapleton died Monday, March 10, 2008 at his home in Mapleton.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in rural Mankato with Rev. David Danner officiating. Burial will be in Barnard Valley View Cemetery, rural Good Thunder. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, March 13, at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.Memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice program, Redeemer Lutheran Church, or to an organization of the donor's choice.
Dennis was born January 10, 1933 in Good Thunder to Wilfred and Mildred (McAshanog) Kaul. He was a 1950 graduate of Good Thunder High School. Dennis served in the US Army from 1953-1955. On January 22, 1955, he was united in marriage to Phyllis E. Heuchert in Good Thunder. He farmed with his brother for 41 years in the Good Thunder area. In 1997, Dennis and Phyllis moved to Mapleton. Dennis was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on church council for several years. For nine years, he served on the Amboy-Good Thunder School Board, was a member of the American Legion in Good Thunder and Lions Club in Amboy. Dennis and Phyllis have been wintering in Texas for 22 years. Dennis loved traveling, visiting friends, and most of all spending time with his family.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis of Mapleton; two children, Jeff (Mary) Kaul of Eagle Lake, Denise (Craig) Amundson of North Mankato; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Lewis of Mankato, Samantha Kaul of Mankato, Molly Kaul of Mankato, Nathan Amundson of North Mankato; two great-grandchildren, Madison Lewis and Brayden White; two brothers, Willis H. (Ardis) Kaul of rural Good Thunder, Marlin (Sandra) Kaul of Bemidji; brother-in-law, Howard Heuchert of North Mankato; nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
