James Donald "Jim" Swenson, age 53 of Mankato, died Friday, March 6, 2008 at his home.
Private family service will be held. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army or Mental Health Research.
Jim, born on January 10, 1955 in Minneapolis, was the son of Donald and Donna Lou (Bell) Swenson. He was a 1973 graduate of Wilson Campus School in Mankato. He went on to attend Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts and studied at the agricultural school at the University of Minnesota. He was married to Maria Zernechel and together had three sons. Jim enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and playing chess. Jim was also an artist and enjoyed creating artwork.
He is survived by three sons, Jamisen (Janeen) Swenson of St. Peter, Benjamin Swenson of Mankato, and Nickolas Swenson of Duluth; two granddaughters, Emily and Aubrey Swenson; mother, Donna Lou Swenson of Mankato; sister, Ann (Clay) Pierce of Ames, IA; brother, Bob (Jenni) Swenson of Chaska; four nieces and one nephew; aunts, Bonnie Carson, Frankie Stevenson both of Des Moines, IA, Barbara Gauger of Waseca; and many cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
