Shirley Urban, age 72 of Vernon Center, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center with Pastor Vance Milbrath, officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Heart Association.
Shirley Ann Urban was born April 12, 1935 in Winnebago to Harley and Hildegarde (Reinke) Johnson. She graduated from Garden City High School. She married Gene A. Urban on February 1, 1954 in Mankato. Together they ran the Mobil Bulk Station in Vernon Center for quite a few years. She worked at Country Neighbors for a number of years, before retiring. Shirley was a loving person with a caring heart who touched the lives of many people.
Shirley is survived by a son and his wife, Stephen and Linda Urban of Mankato; three granddaughters, Michele (Chad) Freeburg of Walnut Grove, Amber (Tom Urban-Hicks) Urban of North Mankato, Holly Urban (special friend, Chris Briggs) of Mankato; three great-grandchildren, Parker and Kayla Freeburg and Morgaine Urban; brother, Wayne "Dean" (Janet) Johnson of Hanska; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Johnson of Garden City; Carol Urban of Aurora; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gene, and a brother, Robert Johnson.
