Elma Maurine Hatchner, age 84, of North Mankato, died peacefully Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 North Riverfront Dr., Mankato, MN 56001. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. An additional service and burial will be held in New Castle, PA.
Elma was born on November 6, 1923 in Byesville, OH. She was the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Brown) Nunley. Elma received a Music Degree from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Walter D. Hatchner in August of 1945 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nassau, IA. They pastored Assemblies of God Churches in Cambridge, St. James, Fergus Falls, MN and New Castle, PA. Elma loved Jesus, her family, and friends. She was a talented musician with a constant song on her lips. She was salt of the earth and a beacon of light, and all who met her loved her instantly. Her love for life, generous smile, sense of humor, and genuine care and warmth for others are her legacy.
Elma is survived by her six children, Dave Hatchner of Minneapolis, Jon (Marchele) Hatchner of Seattle, WA, Damaris Brown of Mankato, Steve Hatchner of Great Falls, MT, Phil (Wendy) Hatchner of Circle Pines, and Tim (Denise) Hatchner of Ham Lake; eight grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou (Bill) Brooks of Beaver Falls, PA; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter in 1993; three siblings, Audree Seibert, Ruth Palmer, and William "Bud" Nunley.
