Joan Ann Douglas, age 66, of rural Madison Lake, died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at her home following a long courageous battle with polymyositis autoimmune disease.
Memorial services will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Mankato Mortuary, with Chaplain Jacek Soroka officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until the service time on Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to ISJ Hospital, Pulmonary Care.
Joan was born on July 29, 1941 in Blue Earth. She was the daughter of Ted and Dorothy (Hardy) LaMont. Joan attended school in Blue Earth. She was united in marriage to Michael F. Douglas on January 3, 1959 in Blue Earth. Joan was a homemaker for her family. She was known for being a caregiver for family and friends. Joan enjoyed bird watching, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her loving and caring husband of 49 years, Mike of rural Madison Lake; four children, Jody (David) Scholtz of Kasota, Vicky (James) Rauchman of Rapidan, Steve (Sandy) Douglas of Madison Lake, and Jeff (Karen) Douglas of Janesville; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Milt) King of Blue Earth and Darlene (Randy) Cox of Albert Lea; four brothers, Alvin LaMont of Blue Earth, Tommy (Sheryl) LaMont of Blue Earth, David (Jean) LaMont of Austin, and Tim LaMont of Blue Earth; many nieces and nephews; special cousin, Joyce (Bob) Berndt of Blue Earth; special friends, Marilyn Sweet of Rapidan, Mary Buschkowsky of Madison Lake, and Stacia Christensen of Madison Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Patricia and Judy.
