Delbert Eugene Kaiser, age 83, of North Mankato, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Kern's Oak Grove Cemetery, Belgrade Township, Nicollet County, MN.
Delbert was born October 5, 1924 to Herbert Herman and Ada Marie (Carpenter) Kaiser in Mankato. Delbert served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the Philippines. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Cole on December 18, 1946 in Mankato. Delbert farmed in partnership with his father-in-law Floyd Cole until 1955 before moving to California where he was a general contractor and started his own business. He received several awards from the state of California for his mentorship of young people in the construction trades.
Delbert and Charlotte moved from California back to Mankato in 2003, where they built their retirement home on the original Cole farmstead in Belgrade Township. For the Last five years this has been their primary residence until recently moving to North Point. A man of many talents and interests, Delbert was an avid sportsman who enjoyed flying his own plane for business and pleasure.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Denise Kaiser of Big River, CA; four grandsons, Mark (Dawn) Kaiser of Ft. Richardson, AK; Steven Kaiser, Christopher Kaiser, and Casey Kaiser all of California; granddaughter, Kelli Kaiser of California; four great-grandchildren; three siblings, Harley (Vae) Kaiser of Backus, Wilma (Everett) Ufford of Phoenix, AZ, David (Lorraine) Kaiser of Apple Valley; brother-in-law, Riley Svihel of Oakdale; many nieces, nephews, and life long friends in the Mankato area.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Sam Kaiser in 2007; three sisters, Virginia "Ginny" (Robert) Farm; Beverly Svihel, Bonnie (Marlin) Johnson.
