Sophia Regina Hiller, age 89, of Good Thunder, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Good Thunder. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Monday. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church.
Sophia was born August 23, 1918 to Emil and Louisa (Wrucke) Doering in Good Thunder. She attended St. John Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Good Thunder High School. Sophia was united in marriage to Alfred Hiller on September 10, 1941 at the St. John Lutheran Parsonage in Good Thunder. She was a homemaker. She and Alfred farmed for 56 years, raising livestock and crops. She was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church and was an active member of its ladies aid. Sophia enjoyed gardening, canning, and especially keeping up her lawn and yard.
Sophia is survived by her husband, Alfred; brother, Walter Doering and wife, Lorraine of Madelia; special pet, Hank; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Sophia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lydia Doedding, Corra Doering, Frederick Doering, Selma Birr, and Martin Doering.
