Loving and devoted mother, grandma, and great-grandma, Rose Hed, age 82, of Mankato, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the Mankato American Legion Post 11 or Mankato VFW Post 950.
Roselina Lilly Amanda Hed was born on February 19, 1925 in Dryden Township, Sibley County, MN. She was the daughter of John and Lena (Borchert) Mielke. Rose attended school in New Auburn. She was united in marriage to Roland Hed on June 8, 1947 in New Auburn. Rose was a homemaker for her family and also was employed with Shari Candies for thirty years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato Moose Lodge, Mankato American Legion Post 11 and VFW Post 950 Auxiliaries. Rose enjoyed embroidery, flowers, gardening, birds, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.
Rose is survived by her five children, Barbara (Cliff) Anderson of Bloomington, Kenneth (Gloria) Hed of Mankato, Terrance (Judith) Hed of Mankato, Howard Hed and special friend, Jennifer Martinka of Mankato, and Steven (Pamela) Hed of North Mankato; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Goetsch of Gaylord and Dorothy Peterson of Edgerton, WI; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roland in 1974; grandson, Jason; and one brother, Lawrence.
Her smiling, fun loving spirit will be greatly missed.
