Violet S Heyn

Violet Sigrid Heyn, age 95, of North Mankato and formerly of Rapidan, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 14, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rapidan with with Rev. Monte Meyer officiaiting. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rapidan. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Monday.

Violet was born May 27, 1912 the oldest of eight children to Gustav A. and Bessie Bertha (Bensen) Bengston in Mankato. She was united in marriage to Berthold "Bert" Heyn on June 24, 1934 at her parents home in Mankato. She was married for 60 years before his death in 1994. Violet was also the assistant post mistress in Rapidan for a number of years. Vi loved to work outside in the yard and around the house. She always had to be busy and was always doing for other people without question. She was also quite active at St. John's Lutheran Church before she lost her sight and hearing.

Violet is survived by her son, Kenneth Heyn and wife, Shirley of McAllen, TX; granddaughter, Valerie Ann (Heyn) Laborde and husband, Steve of Rapidan; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Lexi, and Brooke; brother, Lee "Nick" Bengston and wife, Mavis of Montevideo; several nieces and nephews.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Bert in 1994; three brothers, Victor, Earl, and Roy; three sisters, Vera, Phyllis, and Evelyn.
