Cyril J Fasnacht, age 85, of Mankato, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Laurel's Peak Assisted Living in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake, with Fr. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Calvary All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the start of the service at noon at the church. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Cyril was born December 6, 1926 to Adolph and Iverna (Miller) Fasnacht in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School. Cyril enlisted and served in the United States Air Army Air force and attended the Colorado Airforce Academy. On June 17, 1947, Cyril was united in marriage to Iverna Sophia Reintjes in Marysburg. They were blessed with seven children. Cyril worked for the United States Postal Service until he retired. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, American Legion Madison Lake, and the Brick Layers Association. Cyril enjoyed collecting coins and guns, sports, especially baseball. Cyril was also a very devoted coach for local little league. He was very active with the American Legion.
Cyril is survived by seven children, Sharon (Hanson) Gray of Boston, MA, Sue Fasnacht of New Prague, Geri Fasnacht of Boston, MA, Cyril (Sandy) Fasnacht Jr. of Circle Pines, Christine Welch of St. Paul, Mahogany Eller of Minneapolis, and Joel (Jadell) Fasnacht of Holmen, WI; fourteen grandchildren, Nicole, Jake (Jennifer), Jolene, Mike (Anne), Zachary, Andrew, Jessica, Allison, Cinder, Regis, Holiday (Ali), Avi, Issi, and Gabbi; five great-grandchildren: Kyla, Nick, Emily, Adriella, and Safina; also nieces and nephews; one brother and six sisters.
Cyril was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Iverna; parents; two brothers; Jerome and Robert; and sister, Helen.
