Mary Alice Padgett-Mell, age 52, of Garden City, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Garden City Baptist Church, with Rev. Harvey Hallada officiating. Interment will be in the Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Mary was born August 6, 1959 in Mankato to LeRoy and Luella (Rauchman) Padgett. She graduated from St. Peter High School in 1977. Mary was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of Garden City Baptist Church and the Minnesota Street Rod Association. She enjoyed being outdoors, arts and crafts, classic cars, painting, gardening, and flowers. Mary was strong-willed, stubborn, selfless, and was incredibly loved. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her husband, Barry Mell of Garden City; three children, Jessica (Keith VanErdewyk) Mell of Amboy, Stacy (Leo) Zuehlke of Eagle Lake, Dustin Mell of Garden City; several "unofficially adopted" children, including Kathy Padgett of Norseland and Donavan (Tina) Clarke of Good Thunder; nine grandchildren; five siblings, Larry (Karen) Padgett of Rochester, Gary Padgett of Mankato, Sandy (Paul) Wytaske, Tom Padgett all of St. Peter, and Donna Padgett of Waterville; many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Mike and Laurie.
