Glenn Adolph Schwichtenberg, age 87, of Mankato and formerly Eagle Lake, died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Norman Grieve, officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m., Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary. Memorials may be given to Services for the Blind " Faribault, the Arthritis Foundation, or donor's choice.
Glenn was born August 17, 1924 to Herman and Minnie (Krueger) Schwichtenberg in Redfield, South Dakota. He was educated at Le Center Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Norma J. Gish on October 11, 1951 in Waterville. Glenn was employed by Mankato Tile and Terrazzo Co. for over 20 years and JC Penney in maintenance for 10 years. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Eagle Lake, where he served as a deacon and in other offices. He was a member of the North Mankato Golden K Club and Pioneer Power Association of Le Sueur. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Norma; three children, Jim (Toni) Schwichtenberg of Edmonds, WA, Rockney "Rocky" Schwichtenberg and significant other, Gail Parsons of Mankato, Tami (Doug) Marble of rural Mankato; six grandchildren, Jamie (Zach) Morris and Jessica Wolfe all of Gig Harbor, WA, Taylor Schwichtenberg, Harry Franke and special friend, Lindsey Purrington, Kevin Franke and special friend, Amanda Volk, Jason Franke all of Mankato; step-grandchild, Kelsey Parsons; four great-grandchildren, including our special "Layla"; nieces and nephews, Maureen, Margie, Linda, Roger (Emily) Tuma; and extended family.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorraine (Ray) Tuma; niece, Nancy Tuma; nephew, Robert Tuma.
