Shirley M. Shearer, age 87 of Mankato died Monday, May 14, 2012 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at NORTHVIEW - North Mankato Mortuary, North Mankato. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday before service at NORTHVIEW, North Mankato Mortuary. Memorials are preferred to the Courage Center, Hospice or donor's choice.

Shirley was born March 22, 1925 in Barron, WI to Arthur F.E. and Emma (Boettcher) Miller. She graduated from High School in Minot, North Dakota and from Mankato Commercial College. Shirley was united in marriage to Walter Lee Shearer in North Mankato, MN on June 16, 1945. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran at German Lake. Shirley worked for Internal Revenue Department in Kansas City, the Minneapolis Institute of Art and for Kato Engineering. She enjoyed music, traveling, photography, shopping and spending summers at their cabin by Lake Francis.

Shirley is survived by her son, James A. Shearer of Duluth; daughters, Barbara (John) Westman of Eagle Lake; LeAnne (Fred) Erker of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Daniel, Robert, and William of Olathe, KS; sisters, Joyce Burkel of Red Wing; Charmain (Leroy) Lueck of Mankato; brother-in-law, Kenneth Welch and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sister, Marillyn Welch; parents, Arthur and Emma; mother and father-in-law, James and Katherine Shearer.
