June LaRie Severns, age 85, of Mankato, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Patrick Patterson, officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 26 NORTHVIEW, North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

June LaRie Severns was born June 22, 1926 to Ernest and Ruth (Hier) Nelson in Springfield, MN. June grew up mostly in Sleepy Eye, MN, raised by her foster father, Charles Hansen. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School. On November 18, 1946, June married Marvin Severns. They lived the majority of their married life in Mankato. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and gardening. June was a good woman and a great mom. She was always supportive, never mean, never critical, always kind, and truly a good person. A survivor of many surgeries over the years, we were blessed to have her in our lives for 85 years.

June is survived by her daughters: Marlene (Nylen) Fischer of Mapleton, Suzanne (Dale) Carlson of Spring Hill, TN, LaRie (Craig) Anderson of Chanhassen, MN; her sons: Thomas (Linda) Severns of Mankato and Michael (Cindy) Severns of Minneapolis; grandchildren: John Fischer, Joe Fischer, Lisa Fischer, Rob Carlson, Dan Carlson, Amy Varga, Kelly Curtis, Konor Severns, Rachel Whitman, Ryan Anderson, and Ian Severns; great-grandchildren: Mia and Myles Curtis, Emma, Ethan and Grace Fischer, Daniel and Mason Varga, Courtney, Kevin, and RyLee Carlson; brothers, Gene and Roger Nelson.

June was preceded in death by her parents; her foster father, Charles Hansen; her husband, Marvin Severns and son, Ronald Severns.
