Rural St. Clair resident, Albert Jongbloedt, age 90, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Laurel's Peak in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair, with Rev. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church in St. Clair. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to an organization of the donor's choice.
Albert was born January 8, 1922 in rural Mankato to Alois and Pharidle (Willaert) Jongbloedt. He was baptized, received first communion, confirmed and attended grade school at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mankato.
He helped his parents on the farm until he entered the US Army in 1944. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. His decorations and citations included the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Star Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army of Occupational Medal Japan.
On June 10, 1947, he married Lila Juliar at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. They were the parents to six children, Susan, Charles, Ron, Denise, Tom, and Julie. They lived on a farm east of St. Clair for 58 years retiring in 1985. Albert was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, his apple trees, fishing at the lakes nearby, little drives in the country, old time music and loved spending time with the grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lila of Mankato; six children, Susan (John) Rosa of Fairmont, Charles (Karen) of Lake Crystal, Ron (Myra) of Garden City, Denise (Bill) Hanson of Preston, Tom (Laurie) of Mankato, Julie of Faribault; 17 grandchildren, Brooke (Joel) Pfeffer of Madelia, Dan Haus of Irvine, CA, Meghan Haus of Mankato, Chad Jongbloedt of Nicollet, Jeremy Jongbloedt of St. Paul, Greg (Betsy) Jongbloedt of Appleton, WI, Kevin (Erin) Jongbloedt of Moorseville, NC, Aaron Jongbloedt of St. Paul, Melissa (Andy) Manning of Mankato, Justin (Valerie) Jongbloedt of St. Paul, Cody (Laura) Fleischfresser of St. Paul, LeeAnn Fleischfresser of Preston, Callie Jongbloedt & Weston Jongbloedt of Mankato, Adam Kucera, Ben Kucera & Dylan Kucera of International Falls; 11 great-grandchildren, Brynn, Havalah, August, Jolie, Nevaeh, Jaela, Annabelle, Elliott, Raymond, Veronica, and Riley; brother, Maurice (Charlotte) Jongbloedt of New Richland; sister-in-law, Mary Page of Smiths Mill; several nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irma (Henry) Seys, Selma (David) Lynch, Leona (Hector) Seys, Sister Barbara Ann, SSND; an infant brother; brothers-in-law, Francis Page, Merle (Vivian) Juliar, and Albert (Beverly) Juliar.
