Glen Loren Owens, age 84, a lifelong resident of Judson Township, Blue Earth County, died peacefully, Sunday morning, July 29, 2012 at his home.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN. Visitation will be one hour before service on Saturday. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato.
Glen, the fifth of seven children, was born December 29, 1927 on the family farm in Judson Township, Blue Earth County to Joseph H. and Myrtle (Davis) Owens. He attended Four Corners Country School, District #7, in Judson Township. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War from November 29, 1950 " August 28, 1952, receiving the Purple Heart for being shot while in battle. Glen drove truck for Stokely-Van Camp hauling sweet corn and peas for many years. Glen along with his brothers farmed the family farm and raised and milked Holstein cattle. Glen enjoyed farming and his life on the family farm.
Glen is survived by his brother, Raymond Owens of rural Lake Crystal; sister-in-law, Helen Owens of rural Lake Crystal; brother-in-law, Oryle Davis of Medford; two nieces; five nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Myrtle; two sisters, Edna Owens in 2007 and JoAnn Davis in 2009; three brothers, Robert in 1996, Lee in 2001, and Donald in 2005.
