Marguerite M. Laven, age 88, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Laurel's Peak in Mankato.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, with Rev. Ted Hottinger officiating.
Marguerite was born on October 12, 1923 in Mankato to John and Katherine Wingert. She graduated from Garden City High School and went on to graduate from beauty school in April 1943. She worked at Brett's Beauty Salon for two years before purchasing the Mankato Beauty School in 1945. She owned and managed the school for 30 years. In June of 1946, Marguerite married the love of her life, Cletus "Red" P. Laven, who had just returned from the Army Air Corp. Fighting Unit. Marguerite and Red adopted their daughter, Lona Lee at the age of 3. During her career, Marguerite was the President of the State Association of Beauty Schools, National President of the teacher division and treasurer of the National Beauty School Association.
Marguerite and Red loved traveling and going on fishing trips. In her later years, she loved spending time with her granddaughters, swimming, and going for crazy car rides.

She is survived by her daughter, Lona Skaja (Ron Beckel); granddaughters, Chelsey (Corey) Winter and Callie Skaja; and three great-grandchildren, Boston, Carter and Collin; She was preceded in death by her husband Red, who is waiting by her side to take her to Heaven and show her the way.
