Marvin M. Ostrom, age 86, of Mankato, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Memorial Service will be held 12:00 noon on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato, with Rev. Dean Wolf officiating. A light lunch will follow the service at the church.
Marvin Maxfield Ostrom was born on March 3, 1926 in Harvey, ND to Marvin Russell and Marjorie (Maxfield) Ostrom. Marvin served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. Marvin worked in sales, and later was a realtor for Century 21 and Atwood Realty. He was a member of the Riverblenders, the Mankato Poetry Club, Centenary United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Men. Marvin loved singing, writing poetry, crossword puzzles, and the Summit Center in Mankato, where he sang in the chorus.
Marvin is survived by wife, Eleanor of Mankato; sons, Mike Ostrom, Richard (Joyce) Ostrom; daughter, Nancy (Richard Kadota) Ostrom-Kadota; sister, Margery Skalman; 6 grandchildren, Paul, Anne, Miriam, Daniel, Hannah, and Deborah; great-granddaughter, Naomi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William "Bill" Ostrom; and brother-in-law, Byron Skalman.
