Evelyn M. Kuiper, age 98, of Mankato, died peacefully on February 6, 2012 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.
A burial service will be held at a later date in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Evelyn was born, March 8, 1913 in Polk County, MN to Bernard and Anna (Weiss) Duffy. She married John Kuiper February 3, 1931 in Red Lake Falls, MN. Through the years, Evelyn was a homemaker for her family. In 1954 they purchased a gas station and auto repair business, together with her husband they stayed in business for 25 years. After retirement, they both worked at Peterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls, MN for a number of years. Evelyn did volunteer driving for 16 counties in northern Minnesota, she volunteered for 10 years with the ambulance service, 14 years with the Housing and Development Authority, 21 years with R.S.V.P. She also volunteered at Red Cross blood drives in Mankato for a number of years.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Mankato in 2001 to be closer to her family. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting and being able to see many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren growing up.
Evelyn is survived by 3 children, Marion Doyle of Mankato, Ted (Rosie) Kuiper of Belton, MO, Tim (Jane) Kuiper of Mankato; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Kuiper of Gambrills, MD; ten grandchildren; fifteen great- grandchildren; and one great -great grandchild; a sister, Dorothy (Delton) Sebenaler of Oklee, MN; a brother, Dennis (Barb) Duffy of Columbus, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, a son Gary in 2004, a son-in-law Bill Doyle in 2003, 2 sisters and her parents.
