Mary was born November 5, 1934 to Paul and Esther (Denn) Carey and spent all of her growing up years at the farm east of Mapleton. Her greatest joys during those years were her family and dancing. After graduating from Mapleton High School in 1952, she spent a year at Mankato Commercial College. Mary worked for several businesses in the Mankato area, and on June 12, 1955, married John Massop at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Mapleton. They farmed and raised their family there. She was a lifelong member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she will be buried. Her greatest joy in life was raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, and brothers, Lynel and Bud. She is lovingly survived by her children, Sheila (Joe) Samuelson; Jan (Mike) Samuelson; Peg (Steve) Breiter; Tom (Gina) Massop; Alice (Dan) Germo; David (Jan) Massop; Dale (Tamara) Massop; her 21 grandchildren, Meghan, Luke, Jesseah, Brittney, Rachel, Brooke, Zak, Noah, McKenzie, Caitlin, Nicole, Jacob, Alexis, Gabe, Mary Elizabeth, Christopher, Logan, Josiah, Elijah, Myrrhiah, and Jonah. She also has ten great-grandchildren and a special friend Orland Kitt. Mary always cherished the love and fellowship of her brother, Jim (Bridget) Carey; sisters, Pat (Mike) Hager; Shirley (Rich) Adel and Judy (Butch) Bach.
May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
