Darleen Phyllis Lund, age 79, of Vernon Center, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2011at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Vernon Center. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Monday.

Darleen was born February 13, 1932 to Wilhelm "William" and Gertrude (Franke) Mrotz in Norseland, MN. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1950. Darleen was united in marriage to George W. Lund on September 20, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Darleen and George owned and operated Lund's Superette in Vernon Center until 1980. She also worked at Willy's Last Chance Restaurant, Wendlandt Greenhouse, and Sween Corporation. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Mother's Club, and was a charter member of the Vernon Center Community Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, holidays, feeding birds, playing cards, cribbage, crossword puzzles, dancing, and spending time with her family.

Darleen is survived by two children, Curtis (Jill) Lund of Brooklyn Park and Marsha (Doug) Hellekson of Vernon Center; five grandchildren, Daniel (Misten) Hellekson of Lake Crystal, Jeremiah Lund (Mindy Meagher) of Rice, Juel (Catie) Lund of Ramsey, Michael (Danielle) Hellekson of Vernon Center, and Jordan Lund of Brooklyn Park; three great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Piper, and Elliott; sister, Naomi Nelson of Portland, OR; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Darleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1999; and sister, JoAnn (LeRoy) Runge.
