Evelyn Bloom, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2012, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato where she was currently a resident.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Mankato Mortuary, with Rev. Matthew Brooks officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.

Evelyn was born on June 15, 1923, in Indianola, Mississippi and was raised there by her parents, Louis and Lucille Vance. She attended business school in Memphis, Tennessee. She later became a secretary on an Air Force base where she met Carl Bloom, her husband of 62 years. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed card games, cooking, church activities and serving people in her home.

Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Olson of Mankato and Marilyn (Mark) Lubenow of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents; sister, Eloise Spears; and son-in-law, LeRoy Olson.
