Matthew John Buryska, age 18, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 as the result of a car accident.

Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., North Mankato. A public prayer service will begin at noon. A private family service will be held later. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that memorials be given to the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf, 615 Olof Hanson Drive, Faribault, MN 55021. Northview - North Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Matthew was born March 17, 1993 to Peter and Karla (Christianson) Buryska in Mankato, MN. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Matt graduated from Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf in 2011. He was Salutatorian of his graduating class, a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Council. Matt participated in theatre, academic bowls, was the equipment manager for the football team and was a Peace Builder. He was currently attending his first semester of college at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Matt was loved, cherished and adored by his family, his dog Jasmine and many friends and classmates.

Matt is survived by his parents, Peter and Karla of North Mankato; sister, Sarah and brother, Nick of North Mankato; grandparents, Janice Christianson and Sylvester and Carol Buryska; aunts and uncles, Al (Kristy) Christianson; Cathy (Rick) Balzer; Debbie (Dave) Pemrick; Sharon (Kevin) Holland; Ann (Al) Bunge; thirteen cousins.

Matt was preceded in death by his brother Bradley and grandfather, Calvin Christianson.
