Charles J. Orcutt, age 88 of Mankato, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 surrounded by his family at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Rev. Andy Olsem officiating. Burial will be at St. Ann's Cemetery in Janesville. Visitation will be from 2 " 5 p.m., with a 1:45 p.m. Rosary on Sunday at North Mankato Mortuary " NORTHVIEW. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Chuck was born on August 19, 1923 in rural Blue Earth Co., to Joseph and Clara (Jenks) Orcutt. He served his country in the US Army in World War II. Chuck received the Purple Heart for action in France. After the war Chuck was united in marriage to Iola Sheely on July 1, 1946 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. He was a painter at Immanuel " St. Joseph Hospital. Chuck was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters (St. Joseph's Ct. # 552) Mankato Moose Lodge, Eagles Club, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, the Last Man Standing and also the Solo Group.
He enjoyed dancing, fishing, his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Chuck is survived by his daughter, Carol (Richard) Arndt of North Mankato; his grandchildren, Scott (Danielle) Arndt of Menomioni, WI, Jenny (Pat) Brown of Harrisburg, SD, Holly Arndt of North Mankato; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild; sister, Vera Wilson of New Richland, MN; two sisters-in-law, Helen Orcutt of Mankato, and Jean Sheely of Minneapolis; nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Iola in 1984; son, David; brother, Bill; brother-in-law, Bob Wilson.
