DeAnna M. Hoechst, age 67 of Mankato, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato following a hard fought battle with lung cancer.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at NORTHVIEW " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
DeAnna Marie was born November 16, 1944 to George and Helen (Simmet) Mattes in New Ulm, MN. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1962. On September 9, 1967, DeAnna was united in marriage to Duane Hoechst in Mankato. They were blessed with two children. In 1965, DeAnna worked at Kato Engineering, then in 1969 at Hubbard Milling. From 1980 until present, she headed the Postal Service Department at Minnesota State University - Mankato. DeAnna was an active member of AFSCME and the Postal Customer Council. She enjoyed traveling, watching the MN Twins, playing cards, shopping, loons, time at Truby's cabin, and especially spending time with her grandkids, family, and friends.
DeAnna is survived by her husband, Duane of Mankato; daughter, Deb (Brent) Rabenhorst and their children, Garrett and Ava, of Mankato; son, Dave Hoechst and his children, Tristyn and Mataya, of Lake Crystal; three brothers, Pat (Barb) Mattes of Hutchinson, Mike Mattes of Gibbon, and Mark (Aggie) Mattes of Winthrop; four sisters-in-law, Jeanne Mattes of North Mankato, Brenda Fromm of Sleepy Eye, Bernice Sorenson of New Ulm, and Diane (Steve) Sharits of Mankato; two brothers-in-law, Dean (Lois) Hoechst and Dale (Linda) Hoechst all of Mankato; aunt, Dale Sondag of New Ulm; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
DeAnna was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clark Sorenson, Bob Mattes, and Dean Mattes; and one nephew, Joshua Mattes.
