William Forrest Lightcap, age 93, of Lake Crystal, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2011 at Lake Crystal Mortuary with Rev. Jerry David, officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service on Friday. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery.

William was born March 2, 1918 to William F. and Lulua (Leslie) Lightcap Sr. in Crawfordsville, IN. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1941-November 1945. He was united in marriage to Ruth J. Smith on July 26, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN. They lived in Fort Worth, Texas for 10 years where Bill worked for American Manufacturing as an account supervisor. They moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID and then to Lake Crystal in 1970. Bill was a member of the Lake Crystal American Legion. Bill and Ruth ran Lightcap's Variety Store for 12 years in Lake Crystal. He also did accounting for Electronic Repair in Lake Crystal for over 27 years where he enjoyed working with his friend, Dennis Nelson.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Jeannie Merriweather of Sand Point, ID; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lulua; and his wife, Ruth in 1995.
