Ronald Duane "Hemmie" Hemmelrick, age 56, of Lake Crystal, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato following a short battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Robert Lund officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Lake Crystal Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ron was born on May 24, 1955 in Madelia. He was the son of Wayne and Arlene (Wojahn) Hemmelrick. Ron was a 1974 graduate of Lake Crystal High School and also attended New Ulm Mechanical School. He was employed with North Star Concrete and Wayne's Excavating. Ron was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, gardening, fishing, being outdoors, and feeding his backyard birds and squirrels.

Ron is survived by his father, Wayne Hemmelrick of Lake Crystal; sister, Betty (Thomas) Goettlicher of North Mankato; niece, Kami (Peter) Welter of St. Peter; nephew, Tom Goettlicher Jr. and his significant other, Natasha Chester of North Mankato; great nieces, Lindsay Welter of St. Peter and Jolissa Nelton of North Mankato; great nephews, Nicholas Welter of St. Peter and Thomas James Goettlicher of North Mankato; aunts, Melva Wojahn of Lake Crystal, Darlene Dunker of North Mankato, and Connie (William) Engstrom of Coon Rapids; also many cousins, other family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Arlene in 2006.
