Celebrating 88 years of Raymond A. Roesch, who passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at his Mankato home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, with Fr. Ted Hottinger officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials are preferred to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, VINE, or the Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato Hospice Program.
Raymond Alouis Roesch was born October 29, 1923 to William and Rose (Sporer) Roesch in New Ulm. He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS PCE 904, spending time in both San Diego and Pearl Harbor. On February 28, 1949, he was united in marriage to Gerina C. "Pat" Otto at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Raymond was employed with Northstar Concrete for 42 years, retiring in 1988.
Ray was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he served as usher for over 40 years. Ray loved the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Lynx, gardening (especially corn), and dancing in his younger years. He also enjoyed reading, history, doing word searches, and feeding and watching the birds. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. Family was extremely important to him.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pat; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond W. and Donna L. Roesch of Lake Crystal; two grandchildren, Mattox (Tera) Roesch of Unalakleet, AK, and Amanda Roesch of St. Paul; two great-grandchildren, Ayuu and Kiiriq Roesch; four sisters, Lucille Klebel of Mankato, Mildred (Walt) Enzenauer of North Mankato, Joan (Ken) Ziegler of Mankato, Elaine Shea of North Mankato; sister-in-law, Marlene (Vincent) Thul of North Mankato; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorraine (Martin) Rushing and Dorothy Funari; two brothers-in-law, Martin Klebel and William (Vi) Otto; and sister-in-law, Linda (Marvin) Peters.
