Ronald Earl Laingen, age 74, of Lake Crystal died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Butternut with Rev. Gene Alms, officiating. Burial will be in Butternut Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be used for a Ron Laingen Memorial Scholarship.
Ron was born July 13, 1935 to Recard P. and Ellen (Gedde) Laingen in Madelia. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1953. Ron was united in marriage to Fern Venekamp Fineran on June 8, 1974 at the First United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls. Ron served his country with the U.S. Army. He worked for various creameries in the area and was employed from 1959-1990 with Kraft Foods in New Ulm. Ron had a love of farming and raising hogs. He was a 3rd generation member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and a trustee. He was also a member of the Blue Earth County Soybean Growers Board. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his friends and family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Fern of rural Lake Crystal; four children, Anita (Leland) Bissinger of Austin, Tim (Michelle) Fineran of Lake Crystal, Brian Laingen and special friend, Angie Danks of Mankato, Cary (Usman) Suriono of Burnsville; six grandchildren, Tristan, Ian, and Alana Bissinger, Annika, Tara, and Jade Suriono; brother, Dennis (Sharon) Laingen of Trego, WI; sister, Doreen (Douglas) Johnson of Stillwater; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
