Lucy was born in LeClaire, Iowa, on November 27, 1922, to Elmer Irl Knapp and Edna (Concannon) Knapp. She grew up in LeClaire and Davenport, Iowa. She married her "First Love," Robert Boldt, in Davenport on August 3, 1941. They established their family in Davenport and Bettendorf before moving to Rochester, Minnesota, in 1957. Following Robert's death Lucy resided at Old Main Village from 2001 until her death. She enjoyed the many activities there, was an avid reader, and thrived on time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Lucy is survived by her four children, Diann (Deane) Tolzmann of Mankato, Janet Richter of St. Charles, Minnesota, Alan (Greta) Boldt of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Brian (Deb) Boldt of Owatonna, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
