Barbara "Bobbi" Hokanson, age 89, of Mankato, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Grandview Good Samaritan in St. Peter. Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Ted Hottinger officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
Barbara was born on October 5, 1920 in Mankato to Emil and Julia (Guth) Hottinger. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy. On October 1, 1946 Barbara was united in marriage to Hartley Hokanson. Barb and Hartley owned and operated Hoki's Market together. Barb was a lifetime member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Chicken Club. She was a longtime volunteer at the church and hosted the family corn roast for many years. Barb enjoyed sewing/crocheting, canning, reading, especially the Reader's Digest, playing cards, and she loved flower gardens.
Barb is survived by her husband Hartley; children: Ron (Carolyn) Hokanson, Tom Hokanson, Sue (Craig) Gilbaugh, and Anita (Steven) Hultengren; grandchildren: Donna (Kevin) Killion, Jessica, Christopher (fiance Maria) and Lisa Gilbaugh, and Kelly and Jimmy Hultengren; great-grandchildren: Paige, Coulter, and Caden Killion; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters.
