Carol Ann Hannick, age 63, of North Mankato, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato. She was a 19 year survivor of breast cancer.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service at Mankato Mortuary on Saturday. Interment will be in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Washington. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Blue Earth County Library, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, or the Summit Center.
Carol Ann the daughter of Matthew "Matt" V. and Phillis J. (Anderson) Eliasson was born on April 27, 1946 in Wakefield, Michigan. Carol graduated from Weatherwax High School, Aberdeen, Washington, Central Washington State College, Ellensburg, Washington, and earned a Master's degree in library science from George Peabody College for Teachers, Nashville, Tennessee. She was united in marriage to Francis Hannick on August 3, 1968 in Aberdeen, WA. They resided and worked in Olympia, WA and Missoula, MT before moving to Mankato. They were later divorced.
Carol was a reference librarian at the Minnesota Valley Regional Library/Blue Earth County Library for 28 years, retiring in 2008. She enjoyed reading, golf, tennis, biking, travel, table tennis, and exercising at Curves. She was a Civil War buff and made pilgrimages to Virginia and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to honor the valiant soldiers who served in the War Between the States. Carol was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Carol will be missed by her loving family and remembered for her grace, compassion, and her sweet and strong spirit.
Carol is survived by her mother, Phillis Wonsewicz, Aberdeen, WA; three sisters, Mary (Charles) Anderson, Green Valley, AZ, Linda (Vincent) Leech, Boise, ID, and Annette Culbertson, Aberdeen, WA; brother, John (Margaret) Eliasson, Tenino, WA; nieces and nephews, Matt Anderson, Maija (Ernest Pulford) Anderson, Julie (Mike) Wakefield, Stacie Leech, and Megan Eliasson; and extended family.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Matthew.
