William Frank Breitbarth, age 72, of North Mankato died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Msgr. Douglas Grams and Rev. Peter Nosbush, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or Catholic Charities.
Bill was born on March 12, 1937 in Mankato to Martin and Bernyse (Nelson) Breitbarth. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 before his honorable discharge in 1958. He was united in marriage to Karen A. Cain on August 1, 1964 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Bill worked for Wonder Bread for three years before becoming the owner and operator of Roto-Rooter in 1965. He ran the business for 34 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a volunteer firefighter for the North Mankato Fire Department for 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking, coaching basketball part time for Holy Rosary, and coaching freshman football at Loyola. He also loved spending time at Lake Francis, visiting with friends at the Circle Inn, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karen of North Mankato; daughter, Jill (Matt) McGraw of Belle Plaine; son, Marty (Michelle) Breitbarth of Savage; grandchildren, Connor, Sydney, Reyna, and Ciara; special grand niece and nephew, Amanda and Matthew; two sisters, Rita (Ron) Sandvik of Lake Washington, and Beverly (Allan Davis) Strusz of North Mankato; brother-in-law, Fred (Audrey) Cain of Grand Marais; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sandra Anderson.
