John Henry Brinkman, age 91, of Roseville and formerly of Mankato and Madison Lake, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul, MN.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake with Rev. Robert Schneider, officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
John was born January 23, 1918 to Henry and Gertrude (McDermott) Brinkman in Cavour, South Dakota. He moved to Blooming Prairie in 1940 and then moved to Mankato in 1950. He lived in Madison Lake from 1966 until moving back to Mankato in 2003. John married Mary Jean Hunter on June 30, 1945 in Blooming Prairie. John was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed playing golf and bridge.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Jean; four children, John Patrick (Maureen) Brinkman of Wyoming, MN, Brad (Mary) Brinkman of Juneau, AK, Thomas Brinkman of New Prague, Mary Jo (Bob) Schill of Crystal; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan; one brother; four sisters.
