Paul W Radichel

Paul William Radichel, age 90, passed away October 23, 2009 at his home on Lake Washington surrounded by family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, October 30th at the First Presbyterian Church of Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4"7:30 pm, Thursday, October 29th at the Mankato Mortuary. A private family burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Glenwood Cemetery Association.

Paul was born June 17, 1919 in Mankato, MN to William Otto and Ann Marie (Ludeman) Radichel. He was a graduate of Mankato High School and Iowa State University Engineering School. After graduation, he began work with his family at North Star Concrete. On February 17, 1945 he married Dorothy Mae Madigan; the start to a life long love affair. As third generation entrepreneurs, Paul and his brother, Bill, grew their family concrete and building materials companies (North Star Concrete, Spancrete, Condux Int'l, and VenStar) into regional and national leaders in their industries. Paul served on numerous industry association boards and was a long time member of local boards: Glenwood Cemetery, Chamber of Commerce, and numerous local banks. His passion and support for the Boy Scouts earned him a Distinguished Eagle Scout award. Personal interests include sailing, hunting & fishing in Canada, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved nurturing and planting trees at his tree farm south of Mankato. Paul and Dorothy traveled with favorite destinations being Naples, Florida and Peter Island BVI, where the family spent many memorable trips together sailing. They enjoyed summers at their cabin on Lake Washington. Paul was always a source of unending support for family and friends in need. His life has been a wonderful example to his children and he will be missed so very much. We will continue the traditions of moose calls, hat parties and "yo".

He is survived by his four children, Deanna Thompson of Savage, Margaret (Jeff) Molde of Edina, Kathleen "Tweet" (Larry) Hoffrogge of Mankato, and William (Amy) Radichel of Apple Valley; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Cannon of Houston, TX and Joyce Hunt of Denver, CO.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy on January 4, 2009; his brother, Bill Radichel; and his sister, Marilyn Piccione.

The family would like to thank all of Paul's caregivers who took such wonderful care of him: Diane and Mark, Justina, Julie, Dani, Allie, Jamie, Angie, Becky, Denise, Ashley, Heidi, and Jessie.
