Sandra Kay Kagermeier, age 75, passed away at her home on February 26, 2013. Sandra had requested that no funeral service be given. Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Sandra was born on January 28, 1938, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Lyle and Em Garton. Sandra's father was a Major in the army that allowed her the opportunity to travel around the United States. She was deeply affected by the war where she lost family abroad and gained family at home. After graduating from the University of Minnesota and Mankato State College with a degree in Medical Technology, Sandra married James Howard Kagermeier. Together they had three sons and built an antique business called Earthly Remains. She enjoyed the halcyon days of the 1950's and being a mother during the turmoil of the 1960's. She taught her sons that hard-work and thrift were the basis of growing up. However, the most important values were a confidence and belief in God and Christ, that all men and women were equal thus deserving equal treatment. Also, family was the most important grounding instrument that all humans shared.
Sandra is survived by her oldest son, Jeffry, his wife, Shari, and their daughter, Olivia; her second son, Jim, his son, Martin; and Jordan's daughter, Ruth. Also survived are Sandra's sister, Patrica, her husband, John Heymann, their daughter, Dana, sons, Patrick and Johnny, with their respective spouses and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James and her youngest son, Jordan.
